A Warm Welcome To Our New Minister

Rev. Peter H. Lolley

Our new Minister, Rev. Peter H Lolley was born in Leeds and grew up in a Christian family. After working for Leeds City Council for over 20 years as Chief Inspector of Markets, he felt a strong call to Ministry and trained in the Methodist Church. He served 6 years at Folkestone Methodist Circuit, 8 years in the Lake District in an Independent Evangelical Church, 3 years in Bedworth (Midlands) in the Wesleyan Reform Church, and 4.5 years in the Neath Pastorate of the Presbyterian Church of Wales.

Throughout his Ministry, Peter has been involved in Chaplaincy and has served as a Prison Chaplain, a Hospital Chaplain, a Hospice Chaplain and finally for the period of his appointment in Neath as Industrial Chaplain at what was then Corus Steelworks in Port Talbot. He has also previously served as a School Governor and part of that time as Chairman of the Board of Governors.

Now for this new appointment, Peter will be part-time with us as Minister and will be working for2/3 days per week at Tata Steel in Port Talbot, Llanwern (Newport) and Trostre. He is looking forward to working with us and seeking to build the church and to take the Gospel to people in this town. He is excited about the challenge, as are we as a church.

Peter is married to Denny and they have one Son, Rhys who is married to Emma, and three Grandchildren – Ruth (Five), Daniel (Two and a half) and Lydia (17 months).

Bringing many years of experience to the work, Peter will doubtless bring his own style of working to this appointment and it will be a learning curve for us all, but we remain committed to winning people for the Lord, and being a faithful witness in the town of Llanelli.

There is so much going on at Presby:

  • We sponsor two children through "Compassion": Dave, in the Phillipines and John, in Uganda. It provides money for them to attend school and for a school uniform and books, etc. It also helps their families.
  • We help with the shoe box appeal through Samaritan’s purse when a shoe box is covered with Christmas paper and inside contains the only Christmas gifts these children from these countries have. They could contain hat, scarf and gloves, colouring pencils and book, dolls, toys, games, cars etc. When we watch the video of the children receiving these gifts it makes the work all worthwhile.
  • Toys are collected for the Salvation Army appeal at Christmas time and are delivered to needy children in the area.
  • Pasta and rice are brought for our Harvest service and are taken to Romanian orphanages by a local lady.

Sunday School News

Ryan, who is one of our Sunday school pupils has designed a glass cross and presented it as a gift to the Church. The glass cross is now placed in our Sanctuary and is admired by all who see it. The cross was made by Ryan's family who own Windsor Glass Company in Swansea.
